FALSE BATIK ON PAPER  Friday 27th February 2015
Using the resist technique of drawing with wax through a Tjanting tool, this method of working on to paper gives you an unusual surface and freestyle to your artwork.  Layer up colours and iron off to see extraordinary results.

INTRODUCTION TO SCREEN PRINTING  Friday 6th March 2015
Using the silkscreen technique of stencil resist, print with permanent coloured inks on to a range of fabric types and get different results every time.  For beginners & experienced who wish to develop further.

INTRODUCTION TO SCREEN PRINTING  Friday 13th March 2015
Revisit and develop your prints further from the previous week or begin a new.  This workshop continues to explore the silkscreen technique of stencil resist. For beginners & experienced who wish to develop further.

FREE MACHINE EMBROIDERY-STITCH DRAW  Friday 20th March 2015
Use the free needle technique on your sewing machine to transfer drawings on to fabric & laminated paper backgrounds.  Incorporate different threads and blocks of colour to transform your illustrations.

SPOON BUNTING  Saturday 13th September
Draw with the sewing machine learn reverse couching stitch and paper laminating techniques.  Give new life to used packaging and make a fun alternative bunting.

MONO PRINTING  Friday 3rd October
Design and make paper stencils to use with the mono printing process and create a series of original prints. Have a fun workshop full of colour!

FREE MACHINE EMBROIDERY  Friday 10th Oct
Make a textile piece incorporating free motion embroidery and fabric applique. Includes drawing with the sewing machine, bonding threads, fibres and fabrics.

SURFACE TEXTURE  Friday 17th October
Create a variety of striking textured samples using layering, slashing, pleating & folding techniques. Learn how to manipulate and experiment with an assortment of fabrics.

QUIRKY QUILTS  Friday 7th November
Reinvent traditional patchwork & quilting techniques. Learn how to make cathedral windows, mosaic and traditional english patchwork with a personal twist.

'Image transfer and Surface design'
Saturday 10th May 2014
held at The Beetroot Tree, in Derbyshire



Use image transfer technique to recreate your favourite imagery on a pre-prepared fabric or paper background & complete with simple hand and machine stitches.
(To mount it in style please bring an old frame no larger than A4!)

 Image Transfer & Surface Decoration

 A playful workshop transferring images on to fabric & paper.  Using image transfer paper, recreate your favourite imagery on a pre-prepared fabric or paper background & finish off with hand and machine stitch appliqué & embellishment. (bring an old frame to finish it in style!)

Fabric Manipulation & Surface Texture

working with an assortment of materials you will have the opportunity to create a variety of striking textured samples using techniques such as slashing, pleating, folding & ragging techniques.  A sewing machine would be useful for this workshop but not essential.

Quilted Covers

Reinvent traditional patchwork & quilting techniques and create a cover or carry case for your mobile electronic device. Working with recycled fabric & paper ephemera hand stitch the day away experimenting with techniques such as cathedral windows, traditional English patchwork, appliqué and kantha stitch. Remember to bring your device with you or its measurements!
